Brian Porzak has a background in foreign and domestic film and TV distribution and marketing, as well as in filmmaking.

Brian began his career as Assistant to the Manager of United Artists’ European Continental Division, where he increased the flat sales to the Middle Eastern and North African nations by 10%. In charge of spotting new works for acquisition, he championed the purchase of the film “A Man and A Woman” that returned 100 to 1 on the investment.

At Showcorporation of America (RKO) in New York, Mr. Porzak helped developed corporate sponsorship of art film premieres for the benefit of ballet companies and symphony orchestras.

As a filmmaker, Brian has directed the documentary film “The Greek Life,” which was part of The Museum of Modern Art’s Festival of Films on Youth; “Victims,” a prize-winning commercial on the rape of the environment; the TV pilot for “Open All Night,” which was generated from selection in the West Bank TV Pilot Festival; the featurette “Dryads” which has appeared in several film festivals and on FilmFilm.com; the TV pilot “3-Wishes,” currently in syndication negotiations; plus commercials and industrials for advertisers including Hanes and Hachette Filipacchi Publications.

Mr. Porzak is also the author of several screenplays and the critically acclaimed novel “The ONE.”

As an importer, Brian was responsible for the U.S. release of the French feminist film entitled “Nea,” which he re-edited, sub-titled and marketed.

Mr. Porzak has appeared in improvisational and sketch comedy revues at many New York comedy clubs and cabarets. He has also appeared in Off Off Broadway productions and in independent films, including “Talking With Stan,” “Wonderland,” “Taxi Driver” and “A Cry For Help.”

Brian’s marketing services company American Marketing Network has developed promotions for new consumer products from Fortune 500 companies and produced strategic marketing studies on frequent film viewers for companies like Fine Line Features. On a $30,000 investment, AMN grew to annual billings of $2 million+ in 2 years with a staff of only 3 persons. Prior to founding AMN, Prior to building AMN, Brian pioneered the free-standing newspaper insert industry, which now accounts for nearly 90% of the coupons distributed in the U.S. He built the insert publisher Marketing Showcase, now owned by News Corp, to $50 million from “zero.” And, before that, Brian was the youngest National Sales Manager at John Kluge’s Metromedia and increased revenues on subsidiary Metromail’s largest account, The Reader’s Digest.

Mr. Porzak has consulted for The Pyramid Invention Group, working on creating new brands and services for companies such as American Express and International Paper.

He, also, teaches acting for film and was a Senior Fellow in Film Writing and Production at Dartmouth College.
